Rails Inertia React TanStack Table
Steel structure configurator
Picking the right steel section instead of paging through a several-hundred-page PDF.
A steel manufacturer needed a tool where an engineer could pick a section for a specific job instead of paging through a several-hundred-page PDF catalogue. The application holds the parameters of several thousand sections — sheet piles, beams, bearing piles and panels — along with their structural properties. Calculators work out load capacity and weight for a chosen arrangement, and a comparison grid puts variants from different systems and different manufacturers side by side. A result can be saved as a quote and passed to the distributor covering the client’s region. It had been a classic Rails application with server-rendered views; I carried out the full migration of the interface to React with Inertia.
